Master Your Strength with Precision

Explore our comprehensive guide library designed to help you navigate every feature of the IronSet app. From real-time tracking to intelligent recovery science, we provide the instructional clarity you need to optimize your performance.

Log Failures Accurately:

Mark sets as "Failure" only when you truly reach muscular failure (can't do another rep with good form). This ensures accurate recovery recommendations.

Review Progress Weekly:

Check the GAIN tab at least weekly to see your trends. This keeps you motivated and helps you adjust your training.

Don't do too many exercises:

You don’t need a large variety of exercises—two to three per muscle group is sufficient. For consistent progress, prioritize foundational movements and focus on progressive overload.

Rest well

Optimize recovery by allowing adequate rest between sets and training sessions, supported by quality sleep, balanced nutrition, and sufficient time for muscular repair and adaptation.

Best Practices for Maximum Gains

Progressive Overload Strategy

Week 1-2: Establish Baseline

Log your current strength levels. Don't worry about being perfect - just get data.

Week 3-4: Follow Recovery Recommendations

Use the PLAN tab to guide your training. Train on suggested days, rest on others.

Week 5+: Review Progress

Check the GAIN tab. If gaining steadily (green line going up), maintain the program. If plateauing, increase weight or reps.

Tips & Tricks

Master the progress of strength with our comprehensive guides on intelligent scheduling and recovery analytics.

Set Realistic Target Weights:

Your target weight should be the weight you typically use for your main compound lifts. This helps with exercise intensity calculations.

Use the Plan Tab Before Working Out:

Visit the PLAN tab each day to see which workouts are recommended. This prevents overtraining and respects recovery science.

Don't do too many sets

A standard training structure typically includes three sets: an initial warm-up set, a working set to meet your target intensity, and a final progression set to drive adaptation to the next level. No need to fatigue yourself if your aim is form, strength and health.

Have fun

Train with intention and care—fitness should be an enjoyable experience that supports both performance and well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our real-time tracking or intelligent scheduling? Find answers to the most common queries below.

Why aren't any green (recommended) dates showing?

Common Causes:

  • You haven't selected a workout on the PLAN screen. Tap a workout button to see recommendations.

  • The recovery period hasn't passed yet. The app respects 3-5 day recovery gaps.

  • No workout history exists for the selected exercise. Log your first session and return to see projections.

Solution: Try selecting a different workout, or ensure you have logged at least one set for that exercise.

What's the difference between "Easy Set" and "Failure Set"?
  • Easy Set: A normal set where you had a few reps left. Triggers 3-day recovery period.

  • Failure Set: You reached muscular failure (couldn't do another rep). Triggers 4-5 day recovery period.

Muscle failure creates more CNS fatigue and needs extended recovery. The app automatically respects this for optimal gains.

Once you reached a failure, you should finish workout.

Why does my chart look flat or incomplete?

The GAIN chart shows data based on your workouts over the selected time period. A flat chart means:

  • You haven't trained that exercise during the selected period

  • Try selecting a longer time period

  • Try selecting a different exercise that has more logged sets

  • You need to log more training sessions

The more you train and log, the more detailed your charts become!

I'm new to strength training. Can IronSet help me?

Absolutely! IronSet is beginner-friendly:

  • Smart Guidance: The recovery recommendations follow proven science

  • Progress Tracking: See your strength gains week by week

  • Simple Interface: Three sliders and two buttons for logging

  • Educational: Failure tracking teaches you about training science

  • Progressive Overload: Charts show if you're getting stronger

Start with pre-configured exercises and gradually adjust target weights as you get stronger!

How is my Working weight calculated?

IronSet uses an algorithm based on your lift history to estimate your maximum lift capacity. It considers:

  • Weight lifted and reps completed

  • Your recent training sessions

  • Intensity trends over time

The calculation improves as you log more sets. After your first few sessions, the estimate becomes more accurate.

Can I track multiple exercises in one session?

Yes! On the TRACK screen:

  1. Log all sets for Exercise A

  2. Return to TODAY screen

  3. Select a different exercise

  4. Tap "Start Session" again

  5. Log sets for Exercise B

The app lets you run multiple sessions. Each is timestamped and stored separately.

What if I skip a workout - will the app get confused?

No, the app handles skipped workouts gracefully!

The PLAN tab simply shows the next recommended date based on your last session + recovery period. If you skip days:

  • You're just ready to train (no penalty)

  • The app doesn't force you to train on specific dates

  • When you log your next set, recovery is calculated from that new session

This flexibility allows for life to happen while still tracking scientifically!
